Adoption of
Special Needs Pet

From time to time, WHS receives a pet that has special health issues or disabilities that are treatable but make it less likely to be adopted.  The issues don't make the pet a bad choice but requires an owner who knows how to care for it. This fund would assist a prospective owner in obtaining and caring for the special needs pet.

Here's a few that you might like!

Senior Citizen Discount
on Adoptions

In the past, Purina Pet Foods offered a grant that reimbursed $50 towards the adoption fees of pets adopted by citizens who are 60 yrs or older.  Unfortunately this grant is no longer available. Research shows that pet ownership is beneficial to older persons.

Spay Neuter Project
to reduce
Pet Over Population

WHS currently has a Spay Neuter Clinic on site that is possible ONLY through the very generous contributions of private citizens.

Donations fund the services and medical supplies required to provide Low Cost surgeries to the general public and No Cost surgeries to low income persons.

WHS feels this is the only method to reduce pet overpopulation and the subsequent euthanasia of unwanted perfectly suitable dogs and cats. There are just not enough homes for all of these wonderful pets.

Supplies

It takes a lot of cleaning supplies and equipment to keep our facilities clean.  WHS uses bleach by the case....just to name one item.  Not only does it clean and disinfect but it is effective in preventing Parvo which can be deadly to dogs.
